The church I am at is a “come as you are” church. We don’t place importance on the outward appearance because we believe that God is more interested in the condition of a persons heart rather than if they dress up. Also, most people in my community would rather dress casual than dress up. I think that it’s more unbibilical to force people to wear a suit and tie as we never see dress pants and ties ever worn.

I was tattooed and pierced before I become fully devoted to Christ, so why should I change and hide what I am proud of.

As an evangelist, being pierced and tattooed gives me many several opportunities to share about Christ, as my “art” is Christian symbols, and this causes people to ask questions about what they mean. Also, since tattoos are “in”, people with them have a hard time trusting in people who don’t have them, and visa versa. If having a tattoo opens up opportunities for me to share the Gospel, then dang it, hook me up, because my mission is not to reach people who already are reached, but my mission is to cross into territories where the unreached are and I will proclaim the gospel to them. And if having a tattoo provides a bridge of trust, then give me two more. If people who already are Christian, have a hard time trusting me or think I’m rebellious or whatever, what do I care, you are already reached. I’ll see you in Heaven.
